Summary
This proposal seeks to formally sunset Aura’s deployment on the Fraxtal network in response to Balancer BIP-831, which sunsets BAL emissions and fee processing on the Balancer V2 Fraxtal deployment.
With no ongoing BAL incentives, there is no longer a reason for Aura to maintain infrastructure or support on this network.
Upon approval of this proposal, Aura will begin the shutdown process, maintaining a 6-month withdrawal window for users before permanently deprecating the deployment from the Aura UI. (Users will still be able to use the explorer to withdraw as the contracts will operate as normal)
Motivation
The Fraxtal deployment of Balancer and Aura was intended to extend the ecosystem’s reach and experiment with new scaling environments. However, with Balancer governance moving to shut down emissions and fee processing on Fraxtal via BIP-831, there is no longer a viable reason for Aura to remain active on the chain.
Sunsetting Aura’s Fraxtal deployment allows the protocol to consolidate resources and focus on active and strategically aligned networks.
Specification
Upon successful passage of this proposal:
- All Aura pools on Fraxtal will be deprecated.
- No new deposits or incentive emissions will be supported.
- Contracts will remain accessible for withdrawals.
- The Aura UI will continue to support Fraxtal for a 6-month window from the date of this proposal’s passage to allow users ample time to withdraw their assets.
- After the 6-month window, the Fraxtal deployment will be fully removed from the Aura frontend and no longer maintained.
- The Aura OFT token will continue to operate as normal and is unaffected by this shutdown.
Vote Options
- FOR – Begin the structured sunsetting process for Aura Pools on Fraxtal as outlined.
