[Delegate] Jameskbh

Dear community,

I’m applying to become a Delegate! Here is more info about me:

Name: Jameskbh

Discord username/TG username: jameskbh#1322 / @jameskbh

Twitter Account: twitter.com/@jameskbh

Delegation Address: jameskbh.eth (snapshot) or 0x714D8b5874b3a6a69f289f4e857F4C9670074296 (for Aura UI)

Introduction about Yourself: I’m Jameskbh, and currently an Aura Maxi. I’ve been around Defi since 2020, especially focused on tokenomics and governance (and a lot of yield-farming in the ol’good days). With the introduction of the weighted vote system, I felt it was the right time to apply to become a Vote Delegate for the Aura Community. I believe having more Delegates as part of our Governance System is important, and I will vote, if any member chooses, having Aura’s best interest in mind.

Explain why you would be a good delegate: I’m consistently monitoring the Balancer ecosystem looking for opportunities to bring more partners to Aura Protocol. That involves researching all info about new protocols, and being updated with all governance forums and proposals. I believe having more Delegates as part of our Governance System is important, and I will vote, if any member chooses me as delegate, having Aura’s best interest in mind.

State if you are involved with any other projects: Alephium, a sharded PoW
protocol.

Time Commitment/Week: As needed. I’m always online, so the time commitment is high.

Aura Governance Votes

[AIP-40] Gnosis Chain Deployment

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This is another step towards a multi-chain Aura presence, and will help to consolidate Aura’s position as a top player in the Balancer ecosystem and bring more yield-generation opportunities for Gnosis Chain.

Balancer Governance Votes

[BIP-377] Enable yBAL / 80-20BAL-wETH [Ethereum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This is a liquidity pool for yBAL and can drive trading volume to Balancer. The pool is capped at 2%.

[BIP-378] Re-Enable Overnight Pulse Gauge [Arbitrum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: Overnight is a protocol specializing in delta-neutral strategies. Overnight’s core product is USD+, a 100% collateralized yield-bearing stablecoin. In March 2022, [BIP-208] enabled Overnight Pulse a gauge for Overnight Pulse pool on Arbitrum. This is a request to re-enable the gauge.

[BIP-379] Enable Dola/USD+ Gauge [Arbitrum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This is a pool of two stablecoins. USD+ from Overnight and DOLA form Inverse. The protocols will incentivize the pool, as they are aiming to bring all Arbitrum liquidity to it.

[BIP-380] Enable wstETH/rETH/cbETH Gauge [Arbitrum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This is a pool to facilitate swaps between these three LSTs, attracting trading volume to Balancer on Arbitrum.

[BIP-381] Enable Aave Boosted USDC/USDC.e Gauge [Arbitrum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This is a composable stable pool factory v5 and contains two separate linear pool tokens; bb-a-USDC and bb-a-USDC. These are Balancer’s AAVE-boosted Arbitrum native USDC and bridged USDC.

As Circle migrates from bridged to native USDC, several dexes offer the ability to swap between both assets, bringing in considerable volume.

[BIP-382] Enable bb-rf-usd Gauge [Optimism]

Vote: Abstain.

Rationale: It is unclear where the multi-strategy vaults allocate the funds and, with this added complexity, the choice was to abstain this time.

[BIP-383] Enable bb-rfWSTETH/bb-rfWBTC/bb-rfUSDC Gauge [Optimism]

Vote: Abstain.

Rationale: Rationale: It is unclear where the multi-strategy vaults allocate the funds and, with this added complexity, the choice was to abstain this time.

[BIP-384] Migrate Stafi rETH/WETH Gauge [Arbitrum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: Change of pool and gauge to upgrade the rate provider for the tokens, and all parameters will remain the same as the previous pool.

[BIP-385] Enable MAI-DOLA Gauge [Arbitrum]

Vote: No.

Rationale: There is a lot of uncertainty with bad debt positions, so this is not the best time to incentivize this pool.

[BIP-386] Allocate Base Incentives

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This proposal asks for 50k USDC as launch incentives to kickstart Balancer’s presence on Base. The idea is to get a strong set of protocols in the beginning of the liquidity providing in this chain.

[BIP-387] Give Balancer Maxis ability to add 3rd party rewards to mainnet gauges

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This grant permission to Bal Maxis to add 3rd parties pool rewards on gauges that are not in the veBAL system. This action is important to help to keep liquidity on Balancer that is not interested in using veBAL incentives.

[BIP-388] Wire up Base Chain in preparation for launch

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This proposal asks for Governance authorization to set up all configurations for Balancer’s launch on the Base chain. It is a standard procedure to start the protocol on a new chain.

Aura Governance

[AIP-41] Replenish the Aura Ecosystem Fund

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: The AEF is the tool to keep Aura moving forward. The funding proposal is coherent and well-balanced for the next period.

[AIP-42] Maximizing Value of Aura LP Incentives & Bootstrapping L2s

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This is an important proposal that helps to align Aura BPT stakers with the vlAURA and AuraBAL holders. By adjusting to the current emissions, it achieves lower inflation, and higher yield for Aura-aligned pools, while sustaining a good yield for AuraBAL.

Balancer Governance

BIP-389 to BIP-392 - The vote was not cast due to an incorrect procedure. I implemented redundancies for this not to happen again.

[BIP-393] Fund Beethoven X DAO - Technical for Aug - Dec

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This proposal asks for an extension to the funding of the Marketing part of Beethoven X DAo that is currently responsible for Balancer’s social, content and marketing efforts. The quality of the work so far is excellent, and there are several interesting initiates in the pipeline for the next months.

[BIP-395] Delegate AAVE/stkAAVE to TokenLogic

Vote: Abstain.

Rationale: There are ongoing discussions with them about other partnerships, so it was in our best interest to remain impartial and abstain from this vote.

[BIP-396] Enable jCHF-VCHF Gauge w/ 2% emissions cap [Polygon]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This is a pool to create deeper liquidity for CHF stablecoins, pairing the jCHF and VCHF. It is meant to be an important part of the growth strategy for both protocols.

[BIP-397] Authorize Mimic Smart Vault on Gnosis Chain

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: As MIMIC is the tool for multichain fee processing for Balancer, it is time to grant the needed permissions for it to operate on the Gnosis chain.

[BIP-398] Enable Gauges for Bloom TBYs (ETH), Approve Future Maturity Gauges

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: Balancer pools will be the primary liquidity for this product, and it will be incentivized on Aura. One point of attention is that each TBY has its maturity after 6 months, so new pools are needed regularly, and this proposal asked for automatic approval of the new ones.

[BIP-399] ve8020 Launchpad

Vote: Protofire.

Rationale: After reviewing the report presented by Balancer Grants and the proposals made by the teams, Protofire’s seemed to have the best cost/benefit, being considered technically capable.

[BIP-400] Enable WMATIC/MaticX Gauge w/ 10% cap [Polygon]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: The pool is an Elliptic Concentrated Liquidity Pool (E-CLP) from Gyroscope, and it is already live. Instead of adding direct SD incentives, Stader now wishes to tap into Balancer veBAL tokenomics and incentivize veBAL votes.

[BIP-401] Enable tBTC/WBTC [Ethereum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: tBTC is a decentralized wrapped Bitcoin, that is 1:1 backed by mainnet BTC. Threshold DAO seeks to consolidate deep liquidity on Mainnet using this pool. The protocol will incentivise the pool, as it intends this pool to be a part of its long-term tBTC strategy.

[BIP402] Enable Overnight Steady Accord Pool Gauge [Optimism]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: Overnight Steady Accord is the new implementation of Overnight Pulse, a boosted USDC-DAI pool that relies on USD+ for yield, and it was activated on BIP-208. This is the request to re-enable the gauge, following the changes to its code-base.

[BIP-403] Enable BETS-wstETH Gauge [Arbitrum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: BETS is considering deploying their POL in Arbitrum in this pool after the issues with Multichain. The ask is for core pool incentives with a 2% gauge, to make it the secondary source of liquidity for the token.

[BIP-404] Kill Unused Gauges Week 33

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This proposal aimed to kill 5 gauges that are not in use due to partnerships that are no longer active. It is a good practice to have enabled only active gauges.

Aura Governance

[AIP-43] Reducing Minimum Voting Weight

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This proposal lowers the minimum amount to 0.1% for gauges to receive voting weight and helps to decentralize the protocol further.

[AIP-44] Approval of Optimism Grant Utilization

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This proposal lays down how the grant will be utilised. Using the OP to boost rewards helps to bootstrap liquidity and increase market penetration for Aura in Optimism.

Balancer Governance

[BIP-405] Enable staBAL3/EURe Gauge [Gnosis]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This proposal seeks to create a gauge for the newly created staBAL3/EURe pool. This is a EUR/USD equivalent pool (as stabAL3 is USDC, USDT and DAI) and will be a good source of liquidity for Gnosis Chain.

[BIP-406] Enable wstETH/rETH/sfrxETH Gauge [Arbitrum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: A pool to facilitate swaps between LSTs on arbitrum. It will be a core pool, meaning the protocol fees will be used for voting incentives.

[BIP-407] Enable LCNY/LUSD/ETH Gauge [Ethereum] with 2% emission cap

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This pool pairs a Chinese Yuan stablecoin (LCNY) with USD (LUSD). LCNY is a fork of LUSD, created by Alternity. The protocol will incentivise the pool

[BIP-408] Change Passive Fee Distribution

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: bbaUSD has been deprecated with no firm timeline for reappear. Thus it is prudent to begin paying passive fees in USDC.

[BIP-409] Enable QI-WETH Gauge [Ethereum]

Vote: Yes

Rationale: Updates on multisig showed that the protocol was willing to make changes to improve security/decentralisation.

[BIP-410] Enable KNC/WETH/USDC Gauge 10% [Ethereum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: KNC is the token for KyberDAO, and the pool will serve as a liquidity source. The pool will be incentivised by the protocol.

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This is a refund to protocols that were affected by the bug on Balancer pools. The total is 19.6k in USDC.

[BIP-422] Wire up Weighted Pool Permissions on Avalanche

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: Permissions on Avalanche have been granted in two previous BIPs, 353 and 318, and this asks for what is left to finish the configuration.

[BIP-423] Enable new wstETH gauges [Gnosis Chain]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This proposal asks for gauge creation on 4 wstETH pools to maximise capital efficiency in the Gnosis Chain.

[BIP-424] Add Initial Avalanche & Base Gauges

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: The purpose of this proposal is to kickstart gauge emissions on the new chains.Gauges being active on Avalanche and Base will allow Balancer to bootstrap liquidity and get the players on the networks involved in veBAL.

[BIP-425] Enable 80T-20TBTC Gauge [Ethereum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This proposal aims to add a veBAL gauge for the Balancer 80/20 T/tBTC pool on Ethereum.Threshold DAO seeks to consolidate deep liquidity on Mainnet, and has budgeted T tokens to incentivise this pool

[BIP-426] Enable ALTR-WETH Gauge [Ethereum] with 2% emission cap

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: Alternity is a decentralized protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain, inspired by the design of the Liquity Protocol. This proposal seeks to create the main point of liquidity for ALTR and the protocol will incentivize the pool.

[BIP-427] Enable USDC-USDT-DAI-USDC.e stable pool gauge [optimism]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: This proposal wants a gauge for a 4-pool (bridged USDC, native USDC, USDT and DAI). The goal is to build this pool to be the main stablecoin liquidity on Balancer / Beethoven X on optimism, and hope to bootstrap its liquidity using the gauge.

[BIP-428] Create a uniETH - wstETH - rETH Composable Stable Pool [Ethereum]

Vote: Yes.

Rationale: Bedrock’s native tokenized version is uniETH. Balancer will serve as the main liquidity for the uniETH-wstETH-rETH 3 token pool and will benefit
